Energy Healing Manchester: Past Life Regression

By Fiona Cutts | Published: February 18, 2011

Hi again! This week I am going to be writing about another very powerful healing technique, which has some similarities with the inner child healing – past lives regression.

Last week I wrote about how we often carry patterns from the past, which relate to our childhood (see inner child healing blog post.) It can be the case that if we were criticised as a child, we carry a propensity to either be critical of ourselves and others, and to react disproportionately to criticism from others in later life. Regression to that time in childhood can provide healing of these tendencies (I go into this in more detail in the earlier blog post.)

Often, however, we have no idea where the patterns originate from. When people are unable to identify something from their childhood that is causing their issue, or they say something like “Oh! This problem has always been here.” or “I can’t remember a time when I didn’t have this problem.” this is indicative of it being something they came into this life with, and which therefore can be worked on with a past lives regression.

The first question a lot of people ask is of course: “what if I don’t believe in past lives?” or “do I have to believe in past lives in order for this to work?” And the answer is “no” – you don’t have to believe in past lives in order to benefit from this healing. In the end, of course, it cannot be proven that we have had past lives; but there does seem to be something deeply held within the psyche that responds to this type of healing.

The format of the healing session is that the client will talk about their particular problem, which may be a physical or emotional issue. I then set the intention to go back to the time when this first manifested for them (in this life or a previous one.) As I start the hands-on healing session, I lead them in a deep relaxation, and run healing energy until I get to the part of the body where the physical or emotional pain is held. I then invite them to go back to the time when the issue first manifested.

Some people may get a physical sensation in their bodies, others will see things and still others may get a sense of smell. Typically, the “story” of the past life unravels for them in some way or other. After living through the salient points of the lifetime, including the death, the client will have the space to reflect on the learning from the lifetime.

The healing comes from the reflection on the learning from the lifetime, including how it relates to the events of this lifetime, as well as the experience of death, and the profound beauty, simplicity and openness that people tend to experience after the “death” experience. This space, between lives, is a space where profound healing can take place.

For me, and for many of my clients, experiencing this type of healing has led to resolution of deeply held issues which I did not know the source of in this lifetime, as well as giving me some kind of explanation as to why I respond to certain things in certain ways.

Energy Healing Manchester: Inner Child Healing

By Fiona Cutts | Published: February 11, 2011

Hello! I hope you’re all really well, and enjoying the small but definitely very real signs of new life and spring coming through. For the second day in a row, I have put on my big winter jacket, hat and gloves and been too warm……Hooray!

I feel drawn this week to write about energy healing itself – and what I consider to be one of the most powerful healing modalities – the inner child healing.

As a child, we are often exposed to behaviour from our parents, and other family members and friends that we find upsetting; this can range from physical abuse to more subtle manifestations like an absent minded mother when we needed her attention or a habitually critical father when we really needed love. As a child, we are unable to process all the emotions that those behaviours bring up for us, and the unresolved part is held in the energy field. Over time leads to a blockage in the energy field, which can then manifest as physical symptoms.

When we become an adult, to the extent to which we have not worked through our childhood issues, we will act (or maybe “react”) disproportionately to situations which remind us of those patterns and events from childhood. For example, a child who has been heavily criticised will respond to any hint of criticism from others with hostility, anger, self-pity – or by pushing themselves to do so well that they will “win” that person’s love and appreciation in any case.  A child who has been abandoned, or who feels they have been abandoned, may well fear being abandoned in their friendships and sexual relationships – and be excessively needy and demanding. This energy obviously tends to push the other person away – feeding the abandonment energy or the abandonment story in their mind.

In an inner child healing session, generally the case taking stage at the beginning of the healing will identify the issue to be worked on and the time at which it first manifested in that person’s life. In the hands on healing part of the session, I would take the person back to that time in their life. Once they have a sense of being that little child, they would have the chance to express what they weren’t able to express at the time eg anger at being criticised, hurt and fear at being abandoned.

Once that stage is complete, there is a chance for the client to “reparent” themselves and to give themselves the love, acceptance and understanding they didn’t receive at the time.

All of this is profoundly healing, and cuts right through those cycles of reacting disproportionately to current events in your life based on events from the past.

People often say things like: “I don’t see things – so how do I know that I’m really going back to the past?”  It is often my own personal experience, and the experience of clients I have worked with that we don’t “see” the events or “feel” like that little child. Nonetheless, these people still report a profound change in their lives as a result of the healing; and from the perspective of the healer, I get the sense that they are in that deep space where healing takes place.

Releasing deeply held patterns from the past like this can lead to much energy being released, leaving the body free to work on healing itself of chronic illness, depression, or other health issues.

Energy Healing Manchester: All in the Body??

By Fiona Cutts | Published: February 4, 2011

Hello there! Over the last few days, I have been reminded of the way the body sometimes quite literally speaks to us. We can see this in our everyday language: “He’s a pain in the neck.” “I knew it – I had a gut feeling about him.” Or  “ I put it all behind me.”

I remember the first time I became aware of this, it was like a big penny dropping – an “aha” moment. It was the first time I went to see an energy healer, and I suppose my first exposure to these kinds of ideas. She worked very intuitively and picked up information about my throat chakra and my sacral chakra – telling me the age I was when these had been negatively affected by events in my life. It turned out that the ages she told me about were when I had a tonsillectomy (obviously linked with the throat chakra) and an operation to remove a small ovarian cyst (linked with the sacral chakra.)

At first, I assumed the effect on the chakra was caused by the operations themselves. Nowadays, I see it as the chakra and related organs being affected by life circumstances:  when the pain of what is happening in our lives is too intense to process completely, the unresolved emotions are held in the body, and can block the chakras. In retrospect, I think my childhood episodes of frequent sore throats were to do with being unable to find a voice for myself, or to stand up vocally to the strong critical energy coming from my father. My body gave me the clue to this in a throat chakra illness. Similarly, the ovarian cyst came about at a time when I was deeply unhappy with my life, including with my marriage, and feeling disconnected from myself, and from my (then) husband. This manifested as an illness in an organ governed by the sacral chakra, which is to do with sexuality.

Currently, in my own life, I often ask myself why I might be experiencing certain symptoms. For example, a couple of years ago, I would get a lot of nausea. And I think it was because there were certain things in my life that weren’t serving me any more, and were quite literally making me “sick.” I also sometimes get that fuzzy feeling in my head (foggy brain) which immediately tells me I need to come out of my thinking, analytical mind and back into my body (time for some dancing or some chi kung shaking!)

So, often, in energy healing or EFT sessions with clients, I will ask people to think about why they may have developed certain symptoms or illnesses. Often, a bit of quiet reflection, or even dialoguing in meditation with the body part that is affected, can give an answer. This can often indicate a certain course of action that needs to be taken to begin to heal the symptom or illness.

Having said all this, we are all unique individuals: a pain in the knee may mean one thing to one person, and quite something else to someone else. On the other hand, I find reflecting on this model is often very illuminating – and there seems to me a certain beauty in the literalness of the body finding a way to talk to us through symptoms!

If you’re interested in this subject, there are quite a few books written about it. Louise Hay’s now classic book “Heal your Body” is probably the best known example. There is also the new book on medicine and healing for the 21st century by Gill Edwards called “Conscious Medicine”, which has an interesting chapter on the subject.

Emotional Freedom Technique: Working at a distance

By Fiona Cutts | Published: January 28, 2011

Fiona Cutts School of Energy Healing graduation photoHello! I hope you’re all well, and enjoying maybe (or is it my imagination?) the first stirrings of spring in the air….

I thought this week I would write about distance healings, and sessions by skype and telephone. So, both energy healing and EFT are well suited to being done at a distance – for healing to take place, there is no need for contact with the physical body, and we can be connected energetically (indeed we all are connected energetically) no matter what the distance between us.

I tend to work in two main ways when I am treating clients at a distance:

The first is the distance equivalent of a physical energy healing session. Here, after a brief chat on the phone or on skype where the client would tell me what they are consulting me about, and I might ask some questions about how they are feeling in their body, and emotionally, the client would lie down somewhere where they would not be disturbed for the next 40 or 50 minutes.

I would invite the client’s energy body to me in the room where I am, and work with the energy bodies. I always remember my teacher saying that a healing can often happen more rapidly and with less “complication” without the “encumbrance” of the physical body. And that it also my experience. It is sometimes quicker for me to tune into the energy field of the person I am giving the healing to; and I can often access my intuitive guidance about the issues that need to be addressed in the healing more easily and quickly.

As well as being perfect for when someone is feeling just too ill or tired to come for a physical healing, it is also good for those who live in places where there is no access to an energy healer, or where the person just doesn’t have time to travel.

I am also able to offer energy and lifestyle tips to people who have distance healings.

The second way of working is one I am using increasingly, and am becoming quite excited about! I have just started using skype – and I find it fantastic for distance sessions. In these sessions, I combine EFT with energy healing – a powerful combination. Clients have told me that, although they are not there in the room with me, they felt totally supported and held.

Again, the session starts with a case taking. I would then tune into the client’s energy, and, if they are not already familiar with it, teach them the basics of EFT. This is a very simple, easy to learn technique that has been compared to a psychological form of acupuncture – without the needles! As we can see eachother on the screen, the client is able to follow what I am doing, and also feel supported by me as they go through the process.

EFT is well known for being able to get to the heart of issues quickly and easily, even when these issues have been around for a long, long time. I remember having a session of EFT for deep seated issues related to my fatherthat seemed intractable as they had been there for so long. When my therapist asked me to tune in to see what was going on, I was almost confused that the issue seemed to be no longer there, even when I was “looking” for it, and almost expecting it.

Tips for low mood and depression in the winter months

By Fiona Cutts | Published: January 14, 2011

Hello again! It now feels like much more than a week since I got back from Beautiful Scotland – and I feel right in the depths of a grey, rather bleak Northwest England winter!

I’ve noticed over the last few weeks that a lot of the people who are coming to see me are either coming with low mood and depression, or are talking about it in addition to the main reason that brought them to me. So, I thought I would just write a few things about how to keep happy and bright at this time of year – with Christmas over, and spring still seeming a fair way away!

So, in no particular order, here are my ideas. The first is quite simple – whatever the weather, make sure you’re outside for at least 30 minutes a day. The benefits of natural, full spectrum light, even if it is not sunny, are huge.  Human beings need natural light – and nowadays, we are tending to spend more time inside, staying up late with electric light, but starving ourselves of the benefits of being of full spectrum light. Incidentally, this is said to also help with your eyesight – I remember reading somewhere that farmers and others who spend lots of time outside rarely need glasses!

There are other advantages of spending time outside: it reconnects us with nature, and, as it’s unlikely you will be sitting still at this time of year, then it also gives us some exercise.

This leads on to the next thing: exercise. As we often read nowadays, exercise causes endorphins to be released into the body, which immediately makes us feel good! It can be any kind of exercise: walking, swimming, exercising in the gym, running, or my favourite nowadays dancing.

Another thing I have started to do, which may not be for everyone, is switching the shower to cold in the morning…..you can build up gradually. I started doing this a few months ago, and have found it amazing – hard at the time (particularly when it’s minus 5 outside!!), but fantastic moments later – you feel clear, positive and revitalised. (I have been known to scream with the cold – but my bathroom is a downstairs extension, so hopefully I am not alarming the neighbours!) If all of this seems too much for you at the moment, then a simple step you can take is to just wash your face in cold water.

A final suggestion is to ensure that there is some fresh air in your house – so that you are not breathing “recycled” air. Sleeping with the window open even a little bit can make a big difference to how you feel when you wake up in the morning.

Finally, I realise that not everyone reading this will be able to take up all these suggestions (some of you may not be well enough to walk outside, or to exercise) – so just incorporate into your routine what you are able to! Good Luck!
