A client (I’ll call her Alice) had been coming to see me for a while, and had changed all kinds of things about her life that she hadn’t thought possible until she found out about energy healing work.
She had released a lot of trauma from childhood to do with not being seen, and to do with being the youngest and therefore not taken seriously. She had also released recent trauma around being bullied at work – and is really finding freedom in her life to be herself and to choose to create her life as she would like it, feeling more joy and more happiness in her life than ever before.
Almost by chance when she came to see me after a gap of a few months, she mentioned hot flushes. Even though she had seen massive change in her life, beyond what she had thought was possible, she didn’t think to mention the hot flushes – as she thought they were a “normal” part of being her age, and had to be endured.
And here’s the thing. We all hear and read stuff in the newspaper, the tv, the radio, and even conventional medicine that tells us certain things are “normal” for a particular point in our lives, or “normal” for a certain section of society, or a “danger” to our health for some reason.
And we unthinkingly accept it. If as a society we all accept this, it energetically “hardens” that reality and makes it more “true,”, and more likely to manifest in more people.
(As a side note, I believe the opposite is true too. I have been doing this work for a while now, and I see my clients moving through their issues more quickly than I used to. And actually I move through my “stuff” far more quickly than I used to. My sense is this is because there are more of us doing this work, and we are therefore adding energy to this new paradigm of energy medicine, and the change can then come more quickly.)
I briefly discussed all of this with Alice. Actually, it was familiar territory to her as she had been coming to see me for a while – and had a good understanding of energy work.
And this is another important point. It’s sometimes hard to see where we are limiting ourselves. We often have blind spots – often when I am with my own healer she will point things out to me where I hadn’t even noticed I was limiting myself.
Coming back to Alice, we started with me asking her to simply release the “decision” she had made that going through what we call the menopause has particular symptoms, including hot flushes. She agreed to release that decision, and I energetically held the space for her to do that, working with the healing modality Access Consciousness.
Sometimes when the energy is particularly strong, it may be necessary to do the clearing process a few times.
This may seem a little weird, or may even provoke an angry reaction in some people. How can it be this simple? If that’s the case with my clients, I ask them at that point if they are willing to release that resistance to the process, that cynicism, or that anger. If they are, again I energetically hold the space for them to release that.
Another thing that can happen with particular conditions is that we associate particular situations with those conditions manifesting or becoming worse. In Alice’s case, she knew she often felt hot in the night, and had associated waking up in the night with hot flushes.
Again, I asked her if she was willing to release that “decision” and I energetically held the space for that release. When I say “decision”, I am not talking about a rational decision from the logical mind. More, it is something hidden in the unconscious mind, hidden even from us. And that’s the particular power of this work – it can bypass the logical mind, and get into the areas in our unconscious where we are sticking ourselves.
After doing this release work verbally, we then did some hands on work.
In this case, I ran a process on Alice’s feet which helps to restore our connection with the earth. When we are connected with the earth, it helps us to be stable and “reinforces” other energetic work.
Then, I ran Alice’s bars. The bars are 32 points on the head that relate to different points of view about different areas of our lives.
In this case, running the points that relate to aging, body and healing are likely to help release those points of view contributing to hot flushes.
When I work with clients, with some people, particualrly distance clients, I just do verbal clearing work, and work on the energy field at a distance – and that on its own is enough. With other people, I just run their bars without the verbal clearings (some people jus don’t want the verbal clearing, as it feels too “weird”) and again that on its own is enough.
When someone is able and willing to experience both, my sense is that they can work together to produce more dynamic change.
Alice wrote me an email a couple of weeks later where she told me that she no longer experiences hot flushes.
And what about you? Is there something you’ve just assumed you can’t change? What else is possible for us all?
