Hi everyone! I hope you’re well and enjoying this amazing weather! I feel I am “reemerging” happily and joyfully from a long winter!…..
This week, I thought I would write about another very powerful healing technique. I was going to say the most powerful, but realise I have probably said that about a couple of other techniques: inner child healing, and past life healing. Then, I was thinking that maybe this isn’t contradictory, in that healings often “overlap.” So, it may be that as child, there were things you weren’t able to say, that a sound healing could help to heal, without going back to that specific event from childhood. Similarly, sound can sometimes access events held deeply in our psyche (which may come from past lives), and lead to healing, again without consciously and specifically going back to that point in time.
The main reason that I feel sound healing is so powerful is that it completely “bypasses” the conscious mind. Sound somehow “gets in there” to the place where we are unable to put up any resistance.
There are two main ways that I would carry out a sound healing. One is for me as a healer to “tune” into the client’s energy field, in the usual way by having my hands on the different chakras. When a chakra is out of balance, energy is stuck in that chakra, and that energy has a sound vibration. I would tune into that energy and that sound – and make the sound of that stuck energy. If the client feels the resonance, they can also make the sound (and at times this can be quite discordant, and sometimes quite loud) – which allows the stuck energy to release. It can be quite liberating for people who have often been told to be “quiet” or who have traditionally had problems expressing themselves fully to allow sound out in this way. At the same time, if for any reason that feels unsafe to the client, it is also healing for the healer to make the sound and for the client to just “tune in” to the vibration of the sound.
The second way that I could carry out a sound healing is by having my hands on each chakra and sounding the balanced sound of that chakra. Each chakra in health has a balanced vibration – and the healer sounding this sound encourages the chakra to come back into resonance and health. Again, the client is free to join in with this sounding if they feel drawn to do so.
How does all of this lead to healing and improved health? As usual with energy healing, releasing the stuck energy through sound healing allows more energy and vitality to flow through the body and energy field, which leads to increased well being, as well as healing of specific emotional and physical problems.
Sound healing can release stuck energy from all of the chakras, but can of course particularly affect the throat chakra. We can often carry a lot of stuck energy in our throat chakras – which comes from those situations where we were unable to express ourselves fully. Releasing this energy means we are more free to express ourselves in the future; it also allows the energy to flow from the head into the rest of the body. For me personally, this led to a resolution of the “head fog” I used to experience a lot when I had M.E. (chronic fatigue.)

Dear Fiona,
Great article and fantastic site!
I’ve found it very useful and informational. I have been using vibrational sounds in my healing process for few years. Throughout the years I’ve learned much about various sounds (tibetan bowls, gongs, human voice). But thanks to Solfeggio frequencies I began to fully experience true power of sound. I believe that through the regular use of sound combined with intention we vibrate faster at a cellular level. And the higher rate of vibration preventing us from negative or intrusive energies…
Regards,
Charlie
Hi Charlie – thanks so much for this. I think you’re right, and am noticing I am being drawn to using more sound work, and also voice work in my healing practice.
